Love and War is a novel from The New Adventures featuring the Seventh Doctor and Ace and introducing Professor Bernice "Benny" Summerfield.
Written by Paul Cornell.
This story has the Doctor and Ace coming to the planet Heaven that is a paradise to both humans and Draconians and the Doctor is there to find a book and they also Benny.
Also while they on Heaven, Ace got herself into a romance but one that the Doctor opposes.
Quite intriguing what develops which saw as a result of Ace's said romance which ends in abrupt circumstances lead her leave the Doctor and embark on her own adventures and Benny then replaces in the TARDIS although I came across information that Ace later rejoins the Doctor in later novel Deceit.
On knowing that this is Benny's debut story I was quite surprised to find that Benny is not a real professor here something I had believed otherwise in the subsequent audio stories of her that I had listened to.
Also surprising in reading this novel to come across the bit of the Draconians calling the Doctor, the Oncoming Storm.
Released in 1992, this came thirteen years before the 2005 TV episode Parting of the Ways by showrunner Russell T. Davies which had the Ninth Doctor revealing that the Daleks also refer to him as the Oncoming Storm!
So it was Cornell who came up with the Doctor being the Oncoming Storm!
