Not to be confused with the First Doctor TV story of the same name, this The Ark, which is part of Big Finish's The Lost Stories range is the original version of the TV story that would become The Ark In Space featuring the Fourth Doctor, Sarah and Harry.
The original story was by John Lucarotti who did not receive a screen-credit for The Ark In Space as it became a substantially different story to the one presented by Lucarrotti.
Released in June 2023 and adapted by Jonathan Morris.
Essential elements from the original story that made it into The Ark In Space is that of a space station, that of bodies which cryogenically frozen and a character called Noah.
There is no Wirrn here as that was the invention of The Ark In Space writer Robert Holmes.
Instead this has a creature that is being described as a ravenous puffball.
Overall a pretty enjoyable that in many ways which is different and similar to the transmitted The Ark In Space.
There is one moment of Harry being drifted into space and that was a harrowing moment to listen to.
